When designed well, a garden can be a sanctuary to escape the demands of modern life as well as a dynamic extension of the home and a place to entertain.

Our aim, is to work closely with our clients to create a design that satisfies their immediate needs and aesthetic aspirations whilst also ensuring it will mature into a beautiful space that will last years into the future. Our clients approach us for a variety of design needs; It may be that you want to start having a think about your garden and how to best make use of the space without necessarily investing in a full-scale redesign, or perhaps you to want to entirely recreate the space into a functional but beautiful outdoor haven.

“We are so happy with the new layout of our courtyard garden! Rebecca listened to how we wanted to use the space and had some very helpful suggestions. She thought carefully about how to use planting to soften the areas and to enclose spaces to create a sense of intimacy.”

- James, Teddington

Planting design

Gardening is a hugely popular pastime and whilst some garden-owners know very little about plants and planting, many have a fairly good idea of the kind of plants they like and enjoy getting their hands dirty. We can provide planting advice to everyone, from novice to budding horticulturalists. Alongside being able to provide creative inspiration, we have a wealth of technical and hands-on experience enabling us to advise on the perfect plants for specific garden environments, taking into consideration soil, aspect, neighbouring plants, and other factors. A well-executed planting plan can ensure that your borders look good throughout the year and with a little bit of nurturing, carefully selected plants will give you pleasure for years to come. Whilst you may want to focus on colours, we also pay special attention to textures and winter interest to ensure that the border keeps on giving when the floral displays of the summer are fading.

Garden redesign

A full-scale redesign starts with an initial consultation in which your ideas and requirements are discussed, and we can address some of the practicalities of the garden layout as well as think about some general creative themes. This essential meeting allows us to draw up a client brief so that we can ensure that we are on the same page before any design work commences.  Following on from this we undertake a full survey and site analysis of the outside space so that we can understand the site in detail as well as then being able to scale your garden down and get it onto paper and start designing the space.  We continue to consult with you throughout until we are ready to provide you with plans, drawings and concept boards to help you visualise your proposed redesign.

The final client-approved master plan and any accompanying technical drawings will be put out to tender to landscaping contractors to execute the build. We are happy to recommend contractors or you may like to source your own.  We can act as project consultants throughout the build phase, undertaking regular site visits to ensure that the design vision is being well executed and to liaise between client and contractor if required.    Once the bones of your garden are built, we really hope that you will then employ our services to put together a planting plan and plant up the borders according to this plan to ensure that the garden of your dreams is realised!

“Rebecca is always receptive to any changes or ideas that I may come up with and, if I suggest something that simply would not be viable in my garden, she is very diplomatic and gently advises me about what alternative plants may work better.”

- Nicola, Twickenham
